Magod Falls

Magod Falls located in the Western Ghats is Approximately 20KM from Yellapur Town in Uttar Kannada (U.K) District of Karnataka. It is a spectacular cataract with a two stage drop on the Bedthi / Gangavalli River.

The Falls are best visited just after the end of the Monsoon till the beginning of Summer i.e October to February. The river Bedthi hits a shallow ditch at the head of the Falls and launches off into air before cascading to a sort of "platform" mid way down the precipice. From here, the water flows down from two corners of this platform to the river bed below before continuing on to flow down to meet the sea.

There is a good road from Yellapur most of the way with a Jeep track for the last few Kilometers. Although it is extremely difficult, if not Impossible, to get to the head or the bottom of the Falls, A well placed Viewing Platform with Gazebo etc. has been provided from where you can savour the rugged beauty of this spectacular Falls.

Getting There :
Nearest Airport : Hubli 100KM
Nearest Railhead: Hubli 100KM
By Road: Busses from Hubli to Karwar/ Mangalore ply via Yellapur. Hire a private Vehicle from Yellapur to visit the Falls.
Other Places Nearby: Kavadi Kere, Jenukallu Gudda, sathodi Falls

Note: Do not commit the folly of trying to get to the bottom of the falls! There was an incident just a few months ago  when a few people, including women got lost and spent a few nights in the forest infested with Tigers and Leopards!
